SURVEYING

Intertidal, Sea Defences & Marshland Non-Intrusive Survey

RPS can utilise our in-house hovercraft equipped with Electromagnetic (EM) survey instrumentation to conduct non-intrusive surveys over wetland and/or intertidal areas.

Data is collected via an electromagnetic large loop system which has been specifically designed for the detection of buried metallic anomalies that have similar mass and dimension characteristics to items of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) / Explosive Remnants of War (ERW). The system is linked to a data logger to locate discrete buried magnetic objects which could be ordnance related.

Typically the system is capable of locating buried ordnance to a depth of approximately 3-4 metres for a 50kg bomb. The actual depth of detection will depend on ground conditions which will be established at the time of the survey.

The information is processed and then presented in the form of an anomaly map with an associated target information list. The accuracy of the survey information is +/- 0.5 metres.

The results are provided in a factual report which, along with detailed recommendations, forms an effective part of a site Land Release Programme.
